Derek was thrown onto the bonnet of the vehicle before he hit the ground, suffering an injury on his right side.

A man who has been described as the "unluckiest cyclist in Scotland" has been knocked off his bike by a car for the third time.

Derek was thrown onto the bonnet of the vehicle before he crashed onto the road, suffering an injury to his right side. It is the third time Derek has been left injured as a result of being ploughed to the ground by vehicles. And in February this year, he was hospitalised with nasty soft tissue injuries after being struck by another vehicle overtaking a car. For the second time, the driver failed to stop.

His case was taken on by Cycle Law Scotland, who were able to secure an early acceptance of liability for Derek and an interim payment for a replacement frame and all his damaged kit. The law firm also received a full settlement in respect of his injuries. Derek is now shopping for a new bike.
