Sports News CorrespondentUnited States captain Zach Johnson says he has given himself “a lot of options” to try and end a 30-year wait for an away Ryder Cup win with his six captain’s picks.
With only three Ryder Cup appearances between the six qualifiers, three of whom will be making their debuts, Johnson appeared to favour experience in adding five veterans to the squad. However he will still have four rookies on board after adding Sam Burns, who has played a President’s Cup for USA without winning a point but also won the World Golf Championships Match Play this year.
“New blood can be a good thing. Experience is also a good thing too… …but having new blood is refreshing, it’s energising,” Johnson said.
