“Even in rally Colin McRae didn’t like team orders, Sebastien Ogier fell out with Sebastien Loeb, all these great drivers get into these controversies and I think it’s because they’re such strong characters and it’s part of what makes them so good, so in a way I can understand this reaction.“I think Max will grow and will get better at it, will understand and see the bigger picture, but I don’t think it will be an issue in Abu Dhabi, it will be business as usual.
“I was in Imola and Jos [Verstappen’s dad] was there, Max was there, the whole team and we didn’t talk about it directly but we did touch on Monaco and I could tell there was a little issue there, I didn’t think about it much at the time but as soon as this thing happened on Sunday immediately I thought ‘OK this has something to do with Monaco’.
