Sinn Fein councillor Sean McPeake, speaking to Belfast Live at the scene, said: "I did know the victim. He lived in a neighbouring parish all his adult life. I knew him to be a quiet, inoffensive, hard working man. That makes it all the more surreal." "I've spoken with a few of his colleagues today and they are absolutely gutted. That a man could be out doing a day's work then a few hours later this could happen to him makes it all the more difficult to comprehend."“A police murder investigation is underway, and I would call on anyone with any information which may help those inquiries to contact the PSNI.”
