There were exposed hot water pipes, electrical wiring and heating equipment which posed a danger to residents

An inadequate care home which inspectors found was “visibly dirty” in places breached regulations in six areas and has been placed in special measures. The Conifers, in Rushden, cares for people with mental health conditions, sensory impairments, physical disabilities and people with dementia.

They also found there was “minimal interaction from staff” with residents, while those living at the home “sat for long periods of time doing nothing”.

“However, it was positive that systems were in place for people to have access to the healthcare support they required. Staff also worked well with external agencies including GPs, nurses, and speech and language therapists.
