Frederick Reynolds, from Irthlingborough, was awarded the Military Medal for ‘good work under fire' in August 1918
A World War One hero from Northamptonshire's own father was killed in action just a year before he was conscripted to fight. As part of a running series, the Irthlingborough Historical Society has kindly provided Northants Live with biographies of local soldiers.
Remembrance Sunday has its origins in Armistice Day, which was dedicated in Great Britain on November 11, 1919, to acknowledge the anniversary of the peace agreement that ended World War I.One of the millions involved in that conflict, Frederick William Reynolds was born in Irthlingborough in 1899, the eldest son of Albert and Martha Reynolds. The family lived in one of the cottages in the High Street which stand back from the road opposite what was the Horseshoe Inn.
