Junior doctors and hospital consultants will go on strike together for the first time next week
Staffing in hospitals across Greater Manchester will be at 'Christmas Day levels' during strikes next week, local NHS bosses have warned.
In July, the Government said junior doctors would get pay rises of 6 per cent, along with an additional consolidated £1,250 increase, and hospital consultants will also receive 6 per cent. Health Secretary Steve Barclay has said there will be 'no more negotiations on pay'. “It may try to hide it, but the Government knows this situation is untenable. Junior doctors, senior doctors, trust leaders and patients are all telling them. Our message is this: it’s not too late to do something about it.”
Mr Dilraj Sandher, executive medical director for Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT on behalf of NHS acute medical directors in Greater Manchester, said: "We are now entering the tenth month of industrial action across the NHS, and staff continue to work hard to provide patients with the best possible care.
