The footage shows multiple car crashes on the same stretch of road
Footage showing multiple car crashes and incidents of loss of control have been shared online to highlight an accident blackspot in Co Down.
"I welcome the Department for Infrastructure’s commitment to introduce bollards and reflectors in the area, but as you can see from the footage it’s not a night-time issue, we need further action now. It’s only after I shared the shocking footage of numerous crashes that people have realised exactly how serious this situation is. I cannot imagine what it must be like to live in the homes in this footage, never knowing when the next accident will occur, but knowing that it’s inevitable.
"Due to the number of incidents that have occurred over the last number of weeks the Department has carried out a site inspection and, in the interim, will erect signage at the bend and marker posts in the verge. This work will be prioritised and the Department will continue to monitor this location."
