Candace Persuasian, a trans drag artist, posted a TikTok from the singer’s concert at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey last Sunday. In the video, which seems to have been taken during the outro of the show, Beyoncé is shown in a long, shimmering garment, suspended from a harness. As she floats above the crowd and thanks the audience, she spots a sign held by Persuasian, and reads it, saying, “Trans is beautiful,” into the mic.
“But I knew that this moment was bigger than me, this was for everyone a part of the trans community,” she told the publication. “Beyoncé truly sees us and wants us to be celebrated!” The drag queen also spoke to the moment’s personal importance on Instagram. In a post featuring a Beyoncé-inspired drag look, Persuasian wrote that 10 years ago, she “couldn’t afford to see her in concert so I never imagined I would be seeing her in the front row tonight in Club Renaissance.” Persuasian was also featured on the Shop Beyoncé Instagram page in the night’s exclusive merchandise, modelling a free t-shirt she received at the show.
