'We tried one of the Lake District's most dog-friendly pubs and it was almost perfect'
It's the school holidays and while the weather seems to have missed that memo, families were out in force on our recent trip to the Lake District.
It was surprisingly quiet, given its location in the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere, but I think that was down to our early arrival, as by the time we left most tables were filling up fast. The other half's burger got demolished too. Not cheap at £15.95, but the two 4oz patties are hand blended by the chefs using 'high quality beef cuts dry-aged in salt chambers for 28 days' so you can kind of see where the cost comes in.
The chips were a little bit dry - and sparse - and while the thinner gravy suited my sandwich, it was a bit too watery with the sausage and mash.
