The court heard that on the evening of October 25 2021, a blue Mercedes Benz G63, driven by Chowdhury, was seen driving at high speed along Alan Turing Way in east Manchester. One witness described hearing a 'loud engine noise' before the vehicle passed him at such a speed it caused his car to shake.

The court was told that Mrs Ikponnwmen would have been visible and that if Chowdhury had have braked in time, the crash would have been avoided.
