It will be next door to the former Leeds Wendy's which closed in the 1990s
The Retro American diner chain has made comeback to British high streets for the first time in 21 years. Wendy's first made its debut in the UK during the 1980s and 1990s, but stores including the one on Briggate in Leeds were shut in the late 90s.
Last week, signs were spotted being put up at the premises formerly occupied by Samsung. It is on the coroner of Briggate and The Headrow - right next door to the original Leeds Wendy's which closed in the '90s."Watch this space, something new and something fresh, is coming to Leeds", a Wendy's spokesperson said. Confirming the opening news to Leeds Live, they added: "We can confirm that Wendy’s will be coming to Leeds soon. We will be sure to confirm a date when able.
"We look forward to seeing them trade very soon. We acted on behalf of private landlord in this letting with our joint agent Josh Howe at Savills."
