People struggling can go to get warm and safe for free
A number of organisations in West Northamptonshire have signed up to be 'warm spaces', where those struggling this winter can go to keep warm. The move comes as more families are predicted to struggle to afford heating amid the cost of living crisis.
The council's plans are to create a Warm Spaces Directory, where those struggling with bills can see where they can go to get warm and safe for free and maybe enjoy a hot drink and some company. 45 organisations have already signed up, according to WNC, spread across West Northants.WNC appealed for local groups and organisations to sign up to the network on Tuesday, October 18, on its social media pages.
Those interested are asked to supply basic information like address, telephone number and email address, alongside ticking a menu of facilities they can offer, including toilets, wifi, and play equipment. WNC says this information "will be registered onto our Warm Spaces Directory." “By working with local partnerships across West Northamptonshire we can highlight existing provision and gaps to create a Warm Spaces Directory that can be accessed by residents.
