Classrooms 'bubbles' could be brought back to control mixing between pupils if COVID-19 infections surge this autumn and winter which would be used to limit children’s interactions.

The government intends to surrender a series of emergency powers taken through the Coronavirus Act, including the right to 'direct the temporary closure of educational institutions and providers' in England.
