Scientists have developed a “cancer-killing pill” that they say “appears to annihilate all solid tumors” in lab tests while leaving healthy cells unaffected Here's what the experts are saying ⬇️
” that they say “appears to annihilate all solid tumors” in lab tests while leaving healthy cells unaffected – raising hopes that this could eventually become a Holy Grail treatment.
The researchers carried out their tests on human cancer cells, taken from tumours that have been removed in a laboratory – rather than in a living human with disease. They typically fail either because they don’t adequately treat the cancer they are meant to target as compared to existing drugs or they have too many unwanted side effects.
Dr Rupal Mistry, Senior Research Information Manager at Cancer Research UK, said: “If successful, this drug would be revolutionary for people with cancer. However, research is still in the early stages and more work still needs to be done to understand the response in humans“Cancer cells are known for their unpredictability; they can rapidly produce many copies of themselves and even evolve resistance to treatments.
