One victim, a 42-year-old female, suffered a gunshot wound to her leg. A 26-year-old female victim sustained a graze wound to her abdomen, according to police. The 42-year-old was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, “where she is listed in fair condition.” The 26-year-old “refused medical attention.” According to a police report acquired, the 42-year-old female “was shot twice, in her right-upper thigh and calf.
Steven Adelman, a Connecticut-based attorney whose practice focuses on safety and security at live events and is vice president of Event Safety Alliance, advises venues and teams on safety.“Never, is really the answer,” he said. After watching the video and seeing how people reacted in the section, Adelman said, “It is as close to a random freak occurrence as I can think of.”
Either way, Adelman said he thought it was the right decision to keep the game going if police believed there was no imminent threat.
