McDaniel studied undercoach Kyle Shanahan for years, so if McDaniel could position his offense to thrive with an accurate “point guard” who spreads the ball around to elite playmakers, perhaps the quarterback question in Miami isn’t as big as it seems right now.
Maybe the Dolphins would be better served building the way San Francisco has, rather than committing a huge chunk of their salary cap to a player with career-altering injury concerns. Because let’s be honest here: Even if Tagovailoa makes it through the season unscathed, how much does that prove? Maybe, given the risk of paying Tagovailoa, and combined with the system McDaniel is developing, the Dolphins zag with the 49ers as the rest of the NFL continues to chase elite/expensive QBs.
