Why crackers don't have to be just for Christmas parties

Late one Christmas Eve, a little girl was presented with a cracker. Now, there was nothing particularly special about this cracker and being but a child, eager to access the gift that lay within, she tore it open, casting its papery case aside without a second thought. The content turned out to be disappointing and that was the end of that. Her mother watched on, saddened by the lack of magic it brought. So she set about making her a special cracker of her own, something she could cherish.

Using leftover Liberty fabric to create an indestructible cracker, her mother created a cracker that could be unwrapped just like a gift. Filling it with something she knew her little girl would cherish, she popped it into her Christmas Eve box and waited for it to be discovered. Luckily her plan worked as the little girl awoke with so much excitement to gently open up this precious thing. This tradition carried on every year, eventually giving birth to Happy Crackers which are now cherished, heirloom pieces.Rebecca Slack is Mrs Cracker, the magical brain and creative force behind this handmade cracker business, making each one herself in in North Yorkshire.

'Like many other families, we have a passion for celebrating every occasion throughout the year – no matter how big or small. We found this was particularly true throughout 2020, when we found even the smallest of family celebrations to be a true source of joy' explains Rebecca. Thanks to their high-quality fabrics, the crackers are intended to be used year after year, bringing joy time and time again. 'Made to be unwrapped like a gift, Happy Crackers are inspired by the very first cracker ‘Bon-Bons’ made in Britain by confectioner Tom Smith.' Rebecca says. Not only this, but their clever design helps to eliminate typical cracker waste and form new traditions. All of the crackers arrive empty so you can fill them with a special gift.
