“I see this as basically the only means by which the ordinary members can really voice their intent and their desire that we use the next General Election as the independence election,” he told The National.“I think that the only way in which I can register a concern, which I know a lot of rank and file members have, is basically to go ahead with my nomination for president.”
“We advise the United Nations that we will abide by the terms of the Vienna Convention as regards the equitable distribution of assets and liabilities.” McCormick has been campaigning for independence in some way or another since the 1970s, though he didn’t join the SNP until around 1991. Running for SNP president, McCormick says, is a way of pressuring the leadership to stick to the former path.
“It is entirely up to him and I look forward to the challenge. I will be happy for members to choose who they wish to carry on the work which I've been doing.”
