Top football clubs have resumed pre-season Asian summer tours, after three years of Covid travel bans.

The financial significance of these trips is hard to overstate. When Manchester United registered a commercial revenue loss of nearly $56m in 2021, the club said it was "primarily due" to Covid disruptions, which included the cancellation of the first team's pre-season tour in India."Asia is our single largest region in terms of fan base," Billy Hogan, Liverpool's chief executive told the BBC.

Meanwhile, promoters in Bangkok felt comfortable setting the starting ticket price for a friendly between Manchester United and Liverpool at $136. In Singapore, the cheapest tickets cost $107.
