When December’s tier four limitations kicked in with no end in sight, the government urged people in relationships of any capacity to decide: move in together immediately or be prepared not to see each other for the foreseeable future. Two months into my fledgeling relationship, I packed a bag full of clothes and caught the overground from east to west.
Being locked in a bubble without any outside interaction or influence actually made things easier for myself and other friends who found themselves in similar situations. As the UK begins to reopen, however, I’m finding the feelings of insecurity that used to be limited to the beginning, “what are we?” stages of dating have become all-consuming. I’m worried about how our relationship will look – or work – once our lives are back to normal, and have an irrational fear we’ll decide we don’t actually like each other all that much once the anticipatedand roaring ’20s are upon us.
