'These workers have been taken for granted for too long and the latest offer from the Trust is an insult'
More than 500 clinical support workers at Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge hospitals will walk out today after failing to reach an agreement with Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The strike, which will continue on Wednesday, September 27, and Friday, September 29, is the third of its kind in recent weeks, as staff previously took action on September 11 and August 31.
The union said the Trust agreed to provide back pay for doctors and consultants - with some payments amounting to "tens of thousands of pounds" - but had not extended the same offer to clinical support.
