A Killin woman was “unaware” that growing three cannabis plants in her home - each with an estimated value of between £200 and £600 - was illegal.
Seventy-five-year-old Gita Bolin had admitted a charge of producing the class-B drug at her Finlarig House home on July 19 last year.
Fiscal depute Lindsey Brooks told Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday that a witness had been concerned that cannabis plants were being grown at the property.Police attended at the property with a search warrant and spotted three plants within the conservatory. Bolin’s lawyer told Sheriff Francis Gill that his client had never been in trouble before and was extremely remorseful.She had been taking prescribed, as well as over the counter, painkillers, but these did not alleviate the pain.In mitigation, the lawyer suggested that there was a general public misunderstanding about the legality of cannabis.Bolin had never been in trouble before and was someone of good character.
