A fundraising page has been set up to give Marie the 'send off she deserves'
"Overwhelming" support has come pouring in for the family of a much-loved woman who died at home just weeks after she was attacked by dogs.
Having had surgeries on her arm and leg, Marie was discharged from hospital on September 1. The 40-year-old died at her home in Holden Road, in Brighton-le-Sands, on September 3 after her husband found her on the bathroom floor. The attack allegedly happened as Ms Stevens "tried to stroke" the dogs, who were on a lead, on Park Lane West, in Netherton. It was reported that the dog owners, a man and a woman, tried to stop the rottweilers.
Mark, who met Marie on a blind date and "never looked back" said he should not be planning a funeral for his 40-year-old wife. Previously speaking to the ECHO, he said: "Everyone around the neighbourhood knew her, she constantly laughed and made everyone happy and feel good. We didn't have any kids, we had our much-loved dogs."
He said: "I've been amazed by the love and support. I wasn't expecting anything like this, it just showed how loved she was. There's been so many tributes, it's been overwhelming the level of support."
