The wrestling legend turned Hollywood megastar suffered a brutal loss to rising star Solo Sikoa at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on Saturday evening as he was attacked with several of his opponent’s signature Samoan Spike move. After his loss, veteran commentator Michael Cole referred to Sikoa as ‘the man who retired John Cena’, dropping a heavy hint that his in-ring career may indeed be over.
If Cena is really done, it means an end to a stellar 21 year career for a man hailed as the greatest all time for the longevity and incredible body of work. Although he’s moved into the movie world in recent time, he still kept up his record of wrestling a match every year since his 2002 debut, and this recent match came amid a relatively lengthy return amid the Hollywood strikes.
