We saw just one person the whole time we were there 😲
I stood at Yorkshire's tiny ghost train station for the best part of Thursday afternoon and saw not one commuter come to catch a train in that time.
Just 62 passengers passed through the station in 2020-21, making it Yorkshire's quietest one and today I became one of them.Situated close to the villages of Eggborough and Whitley in North Yorkshire, the station is located on the Pontefract Line and is 20 miles east of Leeds. Stood at Whitley Bridge you realise just how quiet the station is - for the best part of Thursday afternoon I saw not one commuter. I almost gave up hope of spotting a train too, then just as I turned around to head home a freight train came soaring through - yet to spot a coach train to come though.
After around 40 minutes of being sat inside the shelter, freezing in 1C weather might I add, I thought I better look at the timetable - to realise you can only get trains from the station either on a morning or later in the evening, they strangely don't run through the day. The lack of commuters kind of made sense.
