Yorkshire Water said there is an accumulation of fats at Christmas time that can add to blockages.
Families have been urged not to put fat from Christmas dinners down the sink to avoid fatbergs forming in sewers.
The company urged people to allow hot fats and oils to cool to a solid and then put them in the bin instead. Instead of washing oils down the sink, he asked people to let the fat cool before collecting it in an appropriate container and putting it in the household waste bin.
