Junior Collins' life spiralled following a break-up, Bolton Coroners Court heard

A young dad whose life spiralled following a break-up died after becoming 'addicted' to drugs bought on Manchester's 'Counterfeit Street'. Junior Collins, 27, was found unresponsive in his Salford flat by his older brother Scott the morning after being 'absolutely off his head' on tablets he bought the same day.

But when she called him the evening before he died, Miss Thorpe says Mr Collins was so intoxicated 'he couldn't speak'. Miss Thorpe said: "I shouted at him, I shouted at him a lot. "I don't know if he fell asleep or fell unconscious, but he still had food in his mouth. That was the day I found out he was taking pregabalin."

Ms Collins told the inquest she tried to call her son the evening before his death. She recalled that Scott told her the pair had been 'playing on the PlayStation' and had 'taken some sort of pills or whatever', before they 'fell asleep'. Dr Kate Armshaw, of Ashville Surgery, said: "There's the thinking if you can give somebody a prescription of a small amount at a time, you are preventing them purchasing it off the streets." The court heard Scott told Detective Inspector Mike Sharples, of Greater Manchester Police, that he and his brother had taken drugs the evening before Mr Collins died.
