Volunteers from Lancaster, Goosnarg, Preston and Chorley attended the incident along with police and paramedics

A young male was stretchered to safety and into the care of paramedics after falling into a ditch near a farm and suffering a suspected broken leg.

Thirteen volunteers from Lancaster, Goosnargh, Preston and Chorley attended the incident along with police and North West Ambulance Service. BPMRT used a vacuum splint to immobilise the leg and then used a Blizzard bag to keep him warm.The young male was 'in quite a bit of pain' so BPMRT administered the pain reliving gas Entonox before stretching him to safety. The call-out was received at 11pm on Friday night and was resolved by 2am on Saturday.

"13 Team members of Bowland Pennine responded along with officers of Lancashire Police and paramedics of the North West Ambulance Service. Team members assessed our casualty, determined he had a potential lower leg break, so we used a vacuum splint to immobilise the leg and then used a Blizzard bag to keep him warm.
