Sunday Mail Opinion says Scottish Government delays on free school meals is a shameful misalignment of priorities.
Five years ago First Minister Nicola Sturgeon promised to expand the Scottish Government’s successful free school meals scheme to children in Primary 6 and 7.
But it fell victim to dither and delay and became another of those Sturgeon-era SNP policies that promised so much butFast forward to last Tuesday and First Minister Humza Yousaf stood up in the Scottish Parliament to deliver his first Programme for Government. It’s a shameful misalignment of priorities for an FM who said tackling poverty and the cost of living crisis was his No1 focus.

In Scotland we are already paying for free school meals for P1s to P5s so Yousaf has to find the cash for about 60,000 P6s and P7s.
