Zac Efron is set to star in a new biopic about legendary pro wrestling family The Von Erichs.
which will be written and directed by Sean Durkin. It is not yet known what role Efron will play in the film.
The Von Erichs are one of the most legendary families in wrestling history, but their lives were marred by tragedy.The family patriarch, Fritz Von Erich was a wrestler in the 1960s before becoming a promoter. He had six sons – Jack, Kerry, Kevin, Chris, Mike, and David. Jack tragically died aged six in 1959, after he was accidentally shocked by an exposed wire and drowned in a puddle.David died in 1984 from enteritis at the age of 25, while brothers Mike, Chris, and Kerry all died by suicide.
Kerry was the most famous member of the family thanks to his work in World Championship Wrestling prior to moving to . In 1986, he had been involved in a devastating motorcycle accident which had led to his right foot being amputated. Despite this, he continued to wrestle until his death.Fritz died in 1997 from cancer at the age of 68. The only surviving member of the family is Kevin, who appeared at WrestleMania XXV to represent the family when they were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
