More than 17,000 pensioners in Rossendale and Darwen have received a £300 cost of living payment from the government to help combat inflation.
They are being made directly to over 11 million older people nationwide who are in receipt of the Winter Fuel Payment. Rossendale and Darwen Conservative MP Jake Berry has welcomed the roll out of the extra cash support.He said: “Pensioners across Rossendale and Darwen are facing rising living costs due to Putin’s illegal war in Ukraine, so it is vital that we take real action to support them.
“I welcome the news that 17,331 pensioners in my constituency are receiving the Conservative Government’s £300 Pensioner Cost of Living Payment as part of their annual Winter Fuel Payment, as well as the news that the triple lock on state pensions is being protected. “This will give pensioners much needed support this winter and protect the most vulnerable in the face of rising prices.”
