Hundreds of runners took to the streets of Nottingham on Sunday, September 24, as the 42nd Robin Hood Half Marathon got under way. The race got under way from the Victoria Embankment at 9.30am, which was followed by the Mini Marathon for under 17s.
Thousands of well-wishers and supporters were also at the start line as the annual event returned to its pre-Covid attendance. The start has, as always, gone in waves, with participants split into five groups depending on the estimated finish time they provided when signing up to the event. One 'elite' section preceded the five groups, in which the event's best runners were included. Some participants have worn fancy dress costumes, with one of the first runners to set off dressed as Robin Hood.
The 13.1 mile-long course saw runners do a loop around the southern and western parts of the city and pass various landmarks and neighbourhoods, such as the Nottingham Castle, Robin Hood statue, or the Park Estate. Nottingham born and bred Paralympian Richard Whitehead MBE was also once again present at the event. See below for the photo gallery we put together and let us know if you can spot anyone you know.
