Edward Denmark, 62, says he waited nearly seven hours to get a ward bed and intravenous antibiotics. He was scared to use the communal bathroom because of the infection risk and sweated in bed for two days with a fever and wasn't able to use the toilet.

Eventually, Mr Denmark and his wife were given a space to wait in an empty corridor,"but my wife had to find me a chair to sit on". Mrs Denmark said hospital paperwork showed there were concerns that her husband was developing sepsis.
