Thank NAWT_updates for speaking with us.

As films and adverts show us puppies being given as gifts, there is one charity that urges us to make sure that animals can be well cared for throughout their lives. The trust rehomes pets whose owners can no longer look after them or are rescued, and also provides educational and practical support to animal lovers in the community. The centre takes in, on average, 450 animals a year and can have just over 50 animals at a time looked after at the centre.

It houses mainly dogs; this includes many greyhounds who come to NAWT when they stop winning races. There are also cats, rabbits and guinea pigs.Watford Observer asked the centre manager Jackie de Friez about the charity’s work in the town. Not particularly. This last year has been very tough for so many people and we have seen that in the number of pets given up where the owner has passed away or lost their home or job.
