The transformation of where the demolished Forest Mill office building once stood in Radford is now underway
Businesses have voiced their support after work started on a sprawling student complex and brought life back to a barren Nottingham area. The transformation of where the demolished Forest Mill office building once stood on Alfreton Road, Radford is now underway, with construction workers beginning the process of building a 790-bedroom student complex stretching across to Denman Street East, which at its tallest would be eight storeys.
Hamza Alzafari, 25, who is a partner at the E-mobile repair service on Alfreton Road, said: "That will help us to have 800 more people living nearby, it will make it a lot busier. It will be nice also to be able to look out at something a bit nicer than what was there or the empty space there is now."It has come to life now after a long wait for anything to happen there. There are already a lot of students here and it will be a good area to live for them.
"There is so much going on there now, it is massive, nothing has been happening there for such a long time so it makes a good change. It is going to be a huge improvement for this street and I think it will help all the businesses nearby to have more customers." Bogdan Andrei, 26, who works at a shop near the site, added: "I think some people will be upset as it's a lot of students but there was nothing there for a long time and there are some family homes. It will definitely make it look a lot better than it is."
