New planning documents have revealed the move
Asda is set to open a brand new store in the city centre — but it’ll be unlike its other Mancunian shops.
Asda’s arrival at the development will break an established pattern of openings on the site, which currently is home to craft beer bars, a bao bun restaurant, and trendy brunch spots. It goes on to explain that the application is being sought because of conditions in the original planning approval for the huge project, which was given the green light in 2017. Those conditions required any new operators to apply for permission over their opening hours.
