Marg's Chippy will celebrating its 30th anniversary soon
For many, nothing can beat a Friday night chippy tea. An extra battered fish, chips doused in vinegar with a portion of classic chip shop curry sauce with scraps on the side is perfection.
She said: “I got the opportunity from one of my previous bosses who offered me the shop - so when this opportunity came up, I knew I couldn’t turn it down.” Marg prides herself on her traditional views and values of what a chippy should be like. In 2010, the people of St Helens said goodbye to the Knowsley Road stadium after 120 years. Marg’s, also known as the ‘Saints Chippy’ was a firm favourite for fans on match nights with queues from the old Saints ground and all the way to Marg’s chippy - about a quarter of a mile long.
“We used to have all the Saints players coming in, the coaches from other teams, presenters from Sky and BBC. They all came here.”
