But St John’s Church in Somerset isn’t your average place of worship. In fact, it’s a holiday home.
The 185-year-old former gothic church has been transformed into a modern haven, which is now available to rent on Airbnb. Located in the village of East Horrington, it’s just a half an hour’s drive away from Bath and Bristol, and a mere 15 minutes fromBuilt in 1838, it still has some of it’s original features, including the 1830s stained glass window, the font and an original stone wall.
But this isn’t the place for those worried about things that go bump in the night – like many churches, St John’s is next to a graveyard.The windows give unspoiled views of the surrounding countryside And for those who enjoy the luxuries of modern living – don’t fear. There’s all the usual amenities, including a fully kitted out kitchen and a bathroom with a shower.
The home is a great place for a celebration or get together, as it sleeps up to 14 people – and there’s room for everyone.There’s a big dining room on the mezzanine floor, over where the original altar would have been. And the living room offers breathtaking views of the countryside, as well as impressive 20-foot high ceilings.
