The Treasury has warned the cost of living crisis is not over despite signs that average earnings are about to rise faster than inflation for the first time in more than a year janemerrick23 reports:
: “It is too soon to say the cost of living crisis is over based on comparing just one measure of wage increases and one measure of price increases over one 12 month period.
The Prime Minister has staked his premiership on halving inflation by the end of this year. Last month’s figure of 7.9 per cent was lower than expected and this provoked renewed optimism in some parts of Whitehall.
