The Met Office and SEPA have both issued weather alerts with 'extremely heavy rain' and 'strong winds” expected from Wednesday night
Perth and Kinross is once again bracing itself for rainstorms and flash floods after further weather warnings were issued this week.SEPA yesterday issued a flood warning, with Storm Babet set to bring “heavy rain and strong winds” from Wednesday evening into the weekend.
“Where flooding occurs, road closures are likely, along with bus and train service delays and cancellations.The heaviest rainfall is more likely to occur over Angus and southeast Grampian, although even lower lying areas could see “unusually heavy” rainfall during this period. The member of the South Inch Flood Group added that workers did not close a South Inch floodgate during a deluge in August 2020, resulting in damage to neighbouring properties.
Conservatives, Mid Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser and Highland ward councillor John Duff, are also urging the council to take action to ensure recent flooding scenes “are not repeated”. “The council shamelessly attempted to shift blame for their awful handling of the flooding on the North Inch – they now need to focus on the forthcoming weather and set up various measures as a precaution before the expected rain hits the region.”
