But there is some warmer weather on the horizon
Many parts of the UK could be hit by strong winds and gales within the next week, according to the latest Met Office forecast. Temperatures have fallen to more average temperatures for this time of year after unseasonably warm temperatures of 20C earlier in October.
In its long-range UK forecast for Friday, October 20 to Sunday, October 29, Met Office forecasters warn of some inclement weather on the way. The forecast states: "The start of this period is likely to be very unsettled across much of the UK. Parts of northeast Britain in particular could see some further heavy, persistent rain, accompanied by strong to gale force winds.
"Temperatures will stay around average and probably oscillating between milder and colder spells throughout the forecast period."
