Rishi Sunak stunned political commentators with move during reshuffle after Suella Braverman sacked as Home Secretary
Former Prime Minister David Cameron has made a dramatic return to frontline politics as Foreign Secretary. The shock move was made by Rishi Sunak after he sacked Home Secretary Suella Braverman after a string of incendiary statements.
Rishi Sunak took action following her unauthorised article criticising the way pro-Palestinian protests had been policed. A No 10 source said the Prime Minister “asked Suella Braverman to leave Government and she has accepted”. “Working to help ensure stability and security on the global stage is both essential and squarely in our national interest. International security is vital for our domestic security. Though I may have disagreed with some individual decisions, it is clear to me that Rishi Sunak is a strong and capable Prime Minister, who is showing exemplary leadership at a difficult time.”
Speaking before the Cameron appointment commentator Jim Pickard commentator said: "If David Cameron is made foreign secretary it will be a remarkable come-back given his role at the centre of the biggest lobbying scandal in modern UK history." “Great ministerial team and spads and some fab officials. But with so much going on locally I want to focus 100% on constituency work so have asked to go to back benches. I’m also keen to see more of our two small children .”
