Hundreds of drivers in the NG5 area have 6 points or more

Sherwood motorists expressed their surprise as new data from the Department for Transport showed drivers in the NG5 postcode area have the most penalty points in Nottingham. The figures revealed a total of 1,114 people in NG5 have reached six or more points on their driving licence, which is the equivalent of 6 percent of the area’s drivers.

Helen Greenwood, 38, a bartender and cleaner from Sherwood, said: “I don’t drive but I would say it’s about all the traffic more than anything because Mansfield Road should not be a four-lane road. People do Zoom around the corners as well. If you stand too close to the road you might have your face taken off by the side of the bus.Karen Wilkinson, a 48-year-old nurse from Sherwood, said drivers are the same across the country. She said: “I don’t think we’re the worst.

“It’s about personal responsibility. I like my licence, I worked too hard for it to lose it. I think potholes don’t help drivers either because you try and avoid them all the time." Katrin Moye, 53, self-employed and from Sherwood, also highlighted the importance of responsibility on the roads. She said: “I don’t have a single point on my driving licence.
