More capacity was fitted to residential rooftops in the first six months of this year than all of last year, industry data reveal
In the early 2010s householders were offered generous payments for installing rooftop solar, spurring huge growth in the sector. But deployment slumped after 2016, when subsidies were axed.. Trade body Solar Energy UK suggests the average household could save around £500-£600 from their annual electricity costs by installing rooftop panels.“It’s driven by the energy price crisis,” Solar Energy UK CEO Chris Hewitt told.
He admitted firms were racing to keep up with demand. “All of our members are recruiting as fast as they can,” he said.
