Police are currently on Old Hall Lane in Kirkby and a large search is underway
People are asking the question 'what is happening in Kirkby?' after police swarmed a road outside a church this evening.
A spokesperson told the ECHO: "We can confirm officers are today, Tuesday 22 August, responding to an incident in St Chad's Garden’s on Old Hall Lane, Kirkby." It is not yet known if the incident is related to an open land search yesterday in which a gun was found. The gun was found just a number of streets away from the scene of this evening's search.
The scene of where the gun was found is just a four minute, or 1.4 mile drive from where police officers were tonight located.
