It has some positive health effects
As humans we often get wrapped up in some bad habits, whilst we feel bad about them there are many habits that have some benefits. A sleep expert has shared that one habit you might fall into is napping, with recent studies showing they can improve concentration and memory.
She added: “Lie on top of the covers and ensure your bedroom is dimly lit to prevent your body thinking it’s bedtime.” Previous research has shown napping has cognitive benefits, with people who have had a short nap performing better in cognitive tests in the hours afterwards than counterparts who did not nap. The new study aimed to establish if there was a causal relationship between daytime napping and brain health.
The research team estimated that the average difference in brain volume between people programmed to be habitual nappers and those who were not was equivalent to 2.6 to 6.5 years of ageing.
