The pile of filth shows a complete disrespect for the dead and their families.
Old mattresses, tyres, crates and cardboard were abandoned at the spot, with community leaders insisting it shows a "complete disrespect" for a sacred place.
Renfrewshire councillor John Gray condemned those responsible, insisting they should own up and apologise. He said: "Fly-tipping is a blight wherever it happens but these particular incidents are utterly disgusting. The growing incidents of the graveyard site at Renfrew Old Parish Church being used for fly-tipping are obscene."It beggars belief as to why anyone would think this is acceptable. These incidents are outrageous and completely disrespectful.
Since it's launch last December the taskforce had completed 679 visits to identified hotspots, removed 215 tonnes of waste and handed out 35 fines to offenders. Councillor Gray added: "It will only cost Renfrewshire Council money and time to clean this up, which is why residents already struggling with rising bills are being hammered with six per cent council tax rises. We need to see tougher punishments against fly-tipping to deter those who think they will get away with doing it."
