Visitors were said to have been injured 'on a daily basis'

Two former bosses of a popular trampoline park could face prison time after 11 people fractured their spines.

David Elliott Shuttleworth, 33, of Barlaston, Stoke-on-Trent, and Matthew Melling, 33, of Spinningfields, Manchester, each pleaded guilty to health and safety offences when they appeared at Chester Crown Court last month. The charges followed an investigation into 270 known accidents involving members of the public over a seven-week period between December 2016 and February 2017 from using a piece of equipment known as the Tower Jump at the newly-opened Flip Out Chester, near Ellesmere Port, which was said by its directors, Shuttleworth and Melling, to be the largest in the world at that time.

Shuttleworth stepped down as director of the business in July 2018 while Melling left in January 2020, according to Companies House records. Cheshire West Labour councillor Christine Warner said: "This business had a total disregard for safety regulations. "Injuries in this case included 11 fractured spines, as well as other serious injuries. Those injured on a daily basis included both adults and children."Receive newsletters with the latest news, sport and what's on updates from the Liverpool ECHO by signing up here
