Gunman who shot person in the head is still on the run - an attempted murder investigation continues
A gunman who tried to kill a young man in Cheetham Hill is still on the run. The Manchester Evening News can reveal that police believe a handgun, possibly a Luger, was the weapon used.
Officers were scrambled to Ermington Drive following reports of shots being fired. A young man in his 20s was found unconscious in the street. He had suffered a serious injury.An attempted murder investigation has been launched. No arrests have been made, but detectives say they are working on 'sensitive lines if inquiry'. A motive for the attack remains unclear and police don't have a prime suspect.
"I can confirm that this is a firearms enabled attempted murder investigation. This must be a very worrying incident for those living and working in the area. "Greater Manchester Police will not tolerate violence of any form and we will continue to work together with partners to achieve this.
